The Books’ Archway was founded on June 1996 by the Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning (SPEL) with a view to create a cultural center in Athens which would contribute to, through the book, to the quest as well as the integration of past, present and future ideas.

The Books’ Archway is located in the ARSAKEIO MANSION.

The Arsakeio Mansion, classically designed and minimally decorated, was built on the designs of the architect Lysandros Kaftantzoglou (1811-1885) and initially hosted the school as well as the headquarters of the Society.
